Autobiography of James Carman Weaver

James (Jim) Carman Weaver was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, in 1931, the first of six children in his family.

When Jim was born, his parents lived in the deep rural area of West Virginia in a small two room house. The Weavers moved from the rural area to the city when Jim was a small child. Times were tough and jobs scarce, but Mr. Weaver found enough work to keep the family in food and shelter.

Jim finished high school in 1949, but there was not enough money in the family to send him to college. He studied on his own, joining the United States Air Force in 1950. After four years, he was honorably discharged.

Jim married and worked at a local factory for eleven years. In 1965 he moved his family to Florida to accept a position at the Kennedy Space Center. While in Florida, Jim continued his self education. He worked at the space center and progressed to a position of a senior electrical engineer. After several years, he applied for and was given the opportunity to take the professional engineering examination. He obtained his professional engineering license in the state of Florida and later in Alabama.

He became interested in writing at an early age but approached it seriously when he neared retirement. Jim completed a course in writing for children, writing several short stories for children. He began to work on longer stories, completing a children's novel, which he keeps on file to revise from time to time. Jim has written five novels: two in a mystery series, a time spanning fantasy, a Christian love story, and a children's fantasy. These manuscripts have been edited and revised accordingly.

Jim is retired, living outside a small town (Brewton, Alabama) where he has a comfortable home on a large rural lot, spending his time writing, growing flowers, making toys for children, and helping other people who are less fortunate than he.

Jim has two grown sons who are married, and he now has three grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
