Icebreaker: What country would you most like to visit? Why? Scripture References: 1) Luke 10:41-42 We have a decided DISadvantage by living in the United States. That may seem a strange thing to say, but in this culture we are raised with a mind-set that to "go" and "do" and "run" and "succeed" is all that matters. We don't focus on the things that make all that possible - the underpinning. So, we cripple ourselves by simply "doing" because we "should" and not doing because we ARE. If we take the better portion of Mary and sit at the feet of the Lord; if we listen to Him, love Him, and grow in our union with Him, then we will become all that we need to be and all that needs to be done will get done. Questions: 1) Which "portion" do you generally take? 2) How does somebody "spend time with" Jesus? 3) If everyone just prays and meditates, how does anything get done!? ACTION! Let us actively pursue a different mind-set than what is dished out to us by our culture. Keep telling yourself this week that what you "do" is not so important as with WHOM you are spending time. If you find yourself running around crazy - STOP and listen. Let God settle you and give you Grace. |
