This was part two of our Romans 12 as a rule of life discussion - we had this discussion as we met in a local coffee house - very fun.

Romans 12 - a rule of life - continued

What have you thought of since last time on this? > discuss...

What is "the life"? It is a life of SACRIFICE - of self-loss and subseqent self-gain. We lay ourselves down before God - before GOD.

> living sacrifice :: a constant thing - ongoing - constantly being killed and offered up - constantl being given to God.

> spiritual worship (reasonable service) - Logikos (reason, logic, speach, spirit/soul) - latreia (to serve, perform sacred service, doing worship) >> this is more like "...this is your spiritual life's work." This is what you do in your spiritual life. Those other things are more vague.

> so, in your "work" - your spiritual life - do not think that you are conforming (schema - pattern) yourSELF to anything even good. And don't go around trying to imitate what you see people doing. Make it your "spiritual life's work" to be transformed (metamorphoo - to be transfigured - the whole inner form changed) by God by allowing Him to renew your mind (totally new kind of mind - new kind of life).

This is our "job" > to put ourselves in whatever place God is able to reach us and change us.

this does not happen, ironically, as we are alone, totally focusing on ourselves. It happens in the context of us being a PART of the whole Body of Christ - of us being parts of one another - in COMMUNITY.

So, how is our mind renewed - how are we transfigured? Name some ways.

What can WE do to facilitate this happening better?
