- This work by two University of Kentucky sociologists was the first to be presented at the Appalachian Studies conference on gay people. The article relates common themes among a dozen or so gay people who lived or live in Appalachia.

- GLSO News, Lexington, KY: Gay and Lesbian Services Organization.
- This gay newsletter has been in existence since the early 1980s and has included a number of articles on local gay history. The newsletter itself is an excellent archival resource. A collection of this publication can be found in the University of Kentucky Periodicals.

- This fictionalized account of a police officer in the Lexington of the 1950s and 1960s is poorly written but offers hints to gay life during the time. The book includes accounts of Rock Hudson's visits to Lexington.
