Maxim DL/CCD to LX200 autoguider interface

Maxim DL 2.0 (I have yet to upgrade) can provide guider outputs via a parallel port. The LX200 has logic level inputs. I made a box with switches for manual slewing that also provides an optoisolated interface between the pc and the scope. It also has a 'stop drive' rocker switch. You stop the LX200 drive by guiding east continuously. The buttons are VERY handy for centering objects. It can of course be done via the pc, but anything that reduces mousing is handy.

BTW. the LX200 has a strange quirk that will give you fits if you use the CCD jack. After guide input through the CCD jack it will not slew again via the paddle until the slew rate is changed. To regain paddle control at the scope you must change away from your current slew rate and then back. This is normal for the scope.

The Autoguider box with manual buttons

AGDR an app that lives in the tray and allows manual input as well as displaying guider activity.

It's main use to keep the port under control when Maxim is not yet running.

AGDR also provides an animated tray icon which allows you to watch the guider working.

AGDR can also assist with drift alignment see the CCD Assisted Drift Alignment page

Here is the schematic. (Well not the whole schematic you have to click to get that. :))
