This piece was given to Robert by Mimi to sell, as one of his early
pieces. First sold as a Civil War dress with hoop. During a two or three-year
period, Mimi died, and the people who had purchased it originally now wanted
to sell it because they were moving. Some friends told Robert about it,
and he re-purchased it for sentimental reasons. This dress is a simple
cotton or linen batiste, and features lace design accents at the front
bodice yoke, waist and sleeve cuffs. Circa 1806-1900. |
