Wall Unveiling - A Dream Soon Fulfilled

Friday August 1st, 2003

Wall Unveiling 11:30 am
UK Children's Hospital

Lexington, KY

During her stay at the Houston Children’s Hospital, one of the few things that brought Makenna happiness was a ceramic, 3 dimensional wall that she spent considerable time touching, feeling and enjoying!!  In her honor, Makenna’s mother Sheila has had a dream of bringing a similar type ‘wall’ to the UK Children’s Hospital.

Lexington artists Jill Stofer and her husband Richard have worked over a year to helped make Sheila’s dream come true.  A 30’ long ceramic tile wall has been designed and constructed and is truly a work of art.  Richard built the steel frame and Jill designed the wall and worked with her  students at the  Lexington Montessori school to create the hundreds of tiles that make up the wall.

Guests and speakers at the unveiling ceremony will include: UK President Dr. Lee Todd, Mayor Teresa Isaac, and Valvoline President Sam Mitchell. The wall unveiling will make Sheila’s dream, and the Makenna Foundation's first project, come true.  Come see the dream become reality!
