Trinity is a theologically orthodox church
meaning we believe in the basic Christian doctrines that unite all traditional Christians which are found in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.

These doctrines include:

The Trinity

There is one almighty God who exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This one God made everything that exists.

The Incarnation
The eternal Son of God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ. This was accomplished through a miracle of the Holy Spirit, who placed Jesus in the womb of a virgin named Mary. Jesus was and is both fully God and man.

The Cross and Resurrection
Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and was buried. He rose from the dead on the third day after his death.

The Ascension and Second Coming

Jesus ascended into heaven where he governs heaven and earth. He will return from heaven one day to raise the dead and to sit in judgment on all humanity. To his people he will give life everlasting.

The Church Universal

All people from every place and every time who believe in Christ as Lord and Savior belong to the Church, regardless of their race, nationality or socioeconomic background.

Trinity is also an evangelical Protestant church meaning we believe in teachings of the Protestant Reformation as they have been passed down through the evangelical wing of the church. Our denomination, the PCA, is an evangelical denomination.

These evangelical doctrines include:

Scriptural Authority
The Bible is God's Word. As such it is infallible and is the supreme authority for what we believe and how we live individually and as a church. Because the Bible alone is God's Word, we are free from legalistic rules that it does not endorse, even if they have been taught in other Christian churches.

The Gospel

Humanity has sinned against God, breaking off our relationship with him and placing us under his wrath and curse. We are unable to repair our relationship with God. But God has given us the good news of the gospel. We can be reconciled to God because of his love shown to us in Jesus Christ. Jesus' work on the cross for us is the only thing that can take our sin away and restore our relationship with God. We receive this restoration as a free gift of God's love when we personally respond in faith to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, trusting in him alone for forgiveness and committing ourselves to follow him.

Evangelism and Missions

God calls us to share his gospel with all humanity, calling them to be saved from their sins by faith in Jesus Christ. We are called to share the gospel with those in our city and country but also to send missionaries to all the peoples of the earth with God's great good news.

Finally, Trinity is also a Presbyterian church meaning we are in the reformed theological tradition. A summary of our beliefs in this area can be found in our denominational creed, the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

Presbyterian and reformed beliefs include:

The Sovereignty of God
God wisely governs all the universe, including our individual human lives, according to his good and wise plan. Because he is sovereign over all things, we can and should get involved in our culture in politics, the arts and academia, seeking to influence our culture with God's truth and love.

The Holy Spirit and Christian Growth
Every Christian has the Holy Spirit living inside them, uniting them spiritually to God and to other Christians. The Spirit works in us to help us grow spiritually so that our lives more and more reflect the beauty and holiness of God.

Church Governed by Elders

Local churches are to be governed by a group of elders. Local churches are bound together in regional and national church councils which are made up of elders from all the local churches in their territory.

Covenant Baptism

Children of believers are to be baptized not because the water can wash away their sins but to bind the children spiritually into their family and church. Through their family and church, children of believers are exposed to the gospel and called to respond in faith to what their baptism represents, the washing away of our sins in Jesus Christ.
