As you can see I bought the motor, wheel head assembly, and f oot controller. I built the control box and hired the welding done for the frame. To date I have thrown tons of clay on this wheel and it works great.
A word of advice for any who want to head down this road. You can build a wheel cheaper than you can buy one as long as you don't count the hours you put into it and you can do the work yourself. (If I were to add $20/hr for all the time I have in my wheel, it'd costs twice what a new Brent costs.) If you aren't into this kind of work, you'll spend so much getting it done that it would just be easier and cheaper to buy it new.
Now, realize, none of this stopped me, and I love my wheel. I am extremely proud of it and may do it again if I ever need another wheel just to see how cheaply it can be done. So, it can be done and just to prove it, here are a couple of pics
