The Specimen Box Project...

It started innocently and without thought, only habit…the habit of collecting small objects, words…mere pieces of a whole, of placing upon these objects the grand responsibility of being a reminder of an event or experience. That's a powerful habit and an important responsibility. I don't really know whether it is good or bad…really. All I know is that it is something. It is something that should be examined more closely.

Over time, these pieces and parts that are accumulated are put into containers that isolate, frames, and protects them. That object has meaning and it doesn't matter the reason or by whom it is significant. It just is. All objects are capable of this importance. It is just a matter of thought and choice. It is almost customary to collect things in this nature…as reminders…pieces of events that make up our lives.

So the project begins…
