Why is this statement so funny?

From: http://stoptheneocons.blogspot.com/

"We share stories of sinsiterness and neocon perfidys, highlight the work of like minded progressives like myself, laugh at neocons who totaly dont know how dumb they aer"

I never know how to react to people like this. They are so sure of themselves and so dismissive of others that their ignorance is comedic gold. It's more than a few typos and mis-spellings that accentuates the ridiculous in these "political" rants... There's a paradox here in plain view. Because I love a good quote, I thought that I'd share some gems that I think are applicable here. Hope we all have a great laugh and then feel sorry for people who can't get past their own bigotry and prejudice to live up to the "progressive" ideals they try to force on everyone else. If you think I'm liberal-bashing here... well... I guess I am. You can always jump to www.jesus-is-savior.com for the other side of the coin. Since I've spent the pre-internet portion of my life giving fundamentalists a hard time, I'm well within my rights to harass the rest of the ignoranti at will now.

So here are my pertinent quotations about ignorance:

"The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge." - Daniel J Boorstin (Historian, Pulitzer-prize winning author, Librarian of Congress Emeritus)

"There is nothing more frightful than an active ignorance." (or "ignorance in action")- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Nothing is so dangerous as an ignorant friend; a wise enemy is worth more." - Jean de la Fontaine (17th c. French poet and fablist)

"Never let your persistence and passion turn into stubbornness and ignorance." - Anthony J D'Angelo (inspirational author)

"To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant." - A. B Alcott

"Prejudice is the child of ignorance." - William Hazlitt

"Naivete in grownups is often charming; but when coupled with vanity it is indistinguishable from stupidity." - Eric Hoffer

"The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about." - Wayne Dyer

"Unintelligent people always look for a scapegoat." - Ernest Bevin

"I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure -- that is all that agnosticism means." - Clarence Darrow
