An Indian Perspective

blog.myspace.com/paletteamit

A while back, a very nice man named Amit sent me a MySpace message asking to add him to my friends list. I accepted and I glance at his profile occasionally. I am generally very particular about the friend requests I accept. I can't even remember what convinced me to accept Amit's request... but as I was cleaning out my friends list this evening, I dropped my Amit's profile and saw he had a blog entry entitled: "Not a Bush hater anymore..."

Well, I was intrigued. I mean Amit lives in India... How would his perspective be different than mine or the typical politically active blogger in the US? What would turn a Bush hater? I honestly didn't think it was something that was negotiable... like having brown eyes, for example.

So, it basically comes down to good old fashioned sincerity for an Indian like Amit. The article he includes with his post, has a refreshingly non-American feel to it. I continually forget to remember that people in other places have completely different perspectives on American politics. I was so ready to read a typical Neo-Con "defense of Bush" piece or a venomous Left-wing diatribe that the thoughtfulness disarmed me.

The rest of the world doesn't give a shit about Left and Right in America... they give a shit about their own country, their own power, and how the US affects that.
