Bush Names Bolton Ambassador to UN, Bypassing Senate

Bloomberg.com: Bush Names Bolton Ambassador to UN, Bypassing Senate

A pretty fair article about John Bolton's appointment. FYI, Mr. Bolton and I went to the same high school. (Obviously not at the same time.) If he's a product of McDonogh's educational system, then I have to have an extra serving of respect for him. No eighteen-year-old gets out of The McDonogh School without developing an exceptional mind and a good foundation for a solid character. The other big plus in my John Bolton scorecard is his tough stand on reforming the UN. In light of the oil for food scandals and the black comedy of putting Syria on teh security council, I think everyone would agree that a hard nosed UN embassador is just the thing. With you and me footing so much of the operating budget, we ought to be looking for people who will keep an eye on things. If only we could get some of those into political offices in our government. *sigh*

On a side note, I've gotten so used to every political article I read having a quote from Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid denouncing whatever it is that a Republican has done that I almost read over it without noticing. It's really that ridiculous. No matter what the president does, or the Republican majority passes, those two will jump up and find a way to say something bad about it. What a pair of Debbie Downers. LOL

You know, I've met some people through the years who are like that. No matter what happens they find a way to be miserable about it. They drain the life from everything around them. After a while, you just can't take anything they say to heart. Your brain just decides that everything that comes out of their mouth is useless information. Eventually, you find a way to see less and less of them and finally they go away and the sun comes out again. However, Ted Kennedy persists... why? Whatever validity might lie hidden in his words is drowned out by the predictability of the negativity. I've never understood how he gets elected over and over again. Don't people see what he is? Or maybe the people of Massachussetts are just as universally morbid as he is? I doubt it but I can't square it in my head. Even as a life long Democrat, I know he's full of sh*t. It's just sad... He seems to be getting mroe and more company in DC as well... maybe, my wife is right... it is time to change parties. :-(

The lunatics are clearly running the asylum.
