Happy New Year
I recently found the quote and thought it would be an appropriate thought to begin the new year with...
"We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is
a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person." -William
Somerset Maugham, writer (1874-1965)
The past year (in fact the past two years of my life) have been a whirlwind of change. I have moved from renter to homeowner, from single to married, from P&PA to EOP, from the fun uncle to the involved dad, from weekend DJ to weekend home renovator and baby-sitter. I hardly recognize my life at all. I look around at the people in my life now and at the people who have moved in and out of my life over the years and realize the truth of Maugham's words. We are all changing... and as we change we move closer together or further apart. You have to really appreciate those people who happen to continue to change at the same pace and in the same direction you do. For the all the others, who through no fault of their own, have chosen other paths, we cannot think badly of them... only hope that one day we'll change towards each other again.
