Jobs: Worst pay for the investment - Aug. 17, 2005

CNN Highlights three jobs that are chronically underpaid and, I suppose, undervalued. The top of the list... yup, the architect. Sad, but true. Of course the payback is that your architect is not going to charge more for all the work they do; they're going to do less. The AIA and the current Architecture Registration Exams are advising architects to take less and less responsibility for the work they do. The days of Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier as polymath designers are gone. Thanks to lower fees and increased litigation, people get less from their architects than ever before. Or as the ancient saying goes, "you get what you pay for."

FYI, the other two professions listed are Chef and Academic Research Scientist.
